Connecting WhatsApp: Facebook signup or manual credentials

The assistant answers through Meta's official WhatsApp Cloud API β€” not through an app on a phone. That is why it needs a number dedicated to it.

What to prepare

  • A phone number that can receive an SMS or a call for verification, and is not currently registered on regular WhatsApp. (If it is β€” delete the account from the app first: Settings β†’ Account β†’ Delete account.)
  • A Facebook account with access to the business (Business Portfolio). Don't have one? Meta's wizard creates it.
  • A display name for the business β€” Meta checks that it matches a real business.

Option A β€” Sign up through Facebook (recommended)

  1. On Channels & numbers click "Connect with Facebook".
  2. A Meta window opens: sign in, pick or create a business portfolio and a WhatsApp Business account, enter the number and verify it with a code.
  3. When it finishes, WABOT receives permission, registers the number with a PIN, subscribes the webhook and shows "Connected". There is nothing to paste.

The button says "Not configured"? The agency has not entered its Meta app keys yet (WAB_META_APP_ID / WAB_META_CONFIG_ID). Write to support or use option B.

Option B β€” Manual credentials

For anyone who already has an app on Meta for Developers with the WhatsApp product:

  1. Phone Number ID and WABA ID β€” from WhatsApp β†’ API Setup.
  2. A permanent token of a System User with the whatsapp_business_messaging and whatsapp_business_management permissions. A temporary 24-hour token stops working tomorrow.
  3. Under WhatsApp β†’ Configuration set the webhook: callback URL https://vision.org.il/wa/webhook.php and the verify token shown on the Channels page, then subscribe to the fields messages, message_template_status_update and account_update.
  4. Save and click "Check against Meta". Five green checks β€” token, number, registration, webhook, templates β€” and you are ready. You can send yourself a test message from the same page.
⚠️
One number = one business

Messages are routed to a business by the Phone Number ID. A number that belongs to another business in the system is rejected β€” otherwise your inbox would land with someone else.
